Katherine Ann Huber of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away on March 25, 2021. Kathy was born on December 7, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland to Robert Lee Huber II and Ellen Virginia Byrnes Huber. She was the second of eleven children who grew up in Baltimore, then Richmond and in the Larchmont neighborhood of Norfolk, Virginia.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Robert and James Huber, her brother-in-law Kenneth Jolemore and her sister-in-law, Becky Huber.
She is survived by eight siblings: Marian Huber (John Blandin) of Palmyra, Virginia; Nancy Jolemore, Barbara Price (Donny), William Huber, Mary Turner (Jeff Hinkle) and John Huber (Louise Coldwell), all of Norfolk; Thomas Huber of Virginia Beach and Elizabeth Huber of Virginia. She is survived by 9 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by her former husband, Rick McHale of Boston, Massachusetts, who called her Katie.
Kathy graduated from Blessed Sacrament Catholic grade school and from Norfolk Catholic High School in 1970. She attended classes at Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University. She worked hard at several jobs, including as a waitress, a nanny and a photographer.
Kathy loved reading, crossword puzzles, family ancestry, pro football, bingo, karaoke and photography.
She had a special love for all kinds of music and could memorize the lyrics to any song.
Before Covid, she enjoyed lunch dates with siblings at favorite places such as Irwin’s Pharmacy and IHOP. In the past year, she cherished phone calls and parking lot visits at her assisted living home.
Her family wishes to express their gratitude for the care she received while she was a resident of Indian River Home in Chesapeake, where she lived for three years.
Everyone who met Kathy loved her. She was a shining light.
A graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the future.
