Kathleen Ann Powell was born December 13th, 1960, to Joseph Anthony Adams Jr and  Patricia Kathleen Adams. She was laid to rest on June 2nd, 2023, at the age of 62. She leaves behind a husband, Kenneth Powell, her 7 children, Brianna Hoggard, Ben Powell, Rebekah (Beki) Hoggard, Cameron Lester, Lawrence Hoggard, Caitlyn Powell, and Caleb Powell, as well as her sister Josephine Ann Adams Tomei and nephew Joseph Anthony Adams III.

A Memorial service will  be held in her honor Saturday June 10th from 3-6 p.m. at New Creation Assembly of God, 4933  Rutherford Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23455. 

Kathy was a devout Christian, a faithful wife, and a dedicated mother who would do anything for her children and grandchildren. In addition to caring for her own family, she hosted  several exchange students and provided childcare to countless children during her lifetime.

As a woman of God, she was a light in our community. She touched so many lives of the friends she knew from work or church, and she gave of her time and love while sharing the Word of God through her and her husband’s ministry. Her greatest expression of love was cooking and preparing meals for others. Her gift was to comfort, and she did this zealously through a smile or  a welcoming hug. She was selfless, empathetic, and expressed genuine compassion for others;  characteristics that made her ministry so impactful.

Through her work as a CNA, helping others,  or sitting and talking about life with a friend, she was a healer. Although the light she brought to her loved ones and the community will be missed, she is at peace in heaven. We know she loved us infinitely, as we did her. We take comfort in knowing she is with Jesus, our Savior, and is watching over us always.
