Katrina Marie Keel-Saunders, age 37, of Norfolk, Virginia passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 7, 2020. Katrina was born in Norfolk to Magdalena Colello and Kenneth Keel on May 17, 1982. She graduated from Tallwood Highschool in 2000. Katrina made a career out of helping people, working in the medical field for over ten years. Most recently, she worked as a lab authorization specialist for Virginia Oncology Associates.
Katrina was an active member of Here for the Girls, Beyond Boobs, and the Susan G. Komen Tidewater Chapter. She loved crafting, drawing, dancing, but mostly making memories with family and friends. On the weekends she could often be found cheering loudly on the sidelines at her babies sporting events, chorus concerts, or dance rehearsals.
Katrina is survived by: her maternal grandparents Aurelio and Monica Abrigo; her paternal grandparents James and Peggy Keel and Barbara Perry; her parents Kenny, Lena and Cris; husband Karl; children Jasmine, Antonio, and Ava; sister Tiffany and brother-in-law Gary; niece Chloe and nephew Landon; step-sister Casey and step-brother Ross.
She will be remembered for her generous smile, willingness to help any friend in need, goofy antics, and contagious laugh. Words cannot capture what a warm presence she was in the lives who held her dear and how much she will be missed. The family would like to thank Virginia Oncology Associates, in partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, with honoring our Katrina in a Remembrance Run.
A memorial service will be held at River Oak Church on January 18th at 1pm.
