Kenneth Bryan Gagen, born on July 17, 1957, in the warm embrace of Florida, departed this world on April 10, 2025, at the age of 67 in Newport News, VA. A man of great strength and spirit, Kenny lived a life marked by service, hard work, and genuine connection with those around him.
Kenny proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he developed a steadfast dedication to duty and camaraderie. After his military service, he found fulfillment in working as a farmhand and as a metal framer. It was in the metal framer role that he truly shone, enjoying his days building frameworks high in the sky, shaping the skyline with his hands and leaving a lasting mark on the world.
A lover of cinema and a devoted fan of “Law and Order,” Kenny appreciated the art of storytelling and the thrill of a good mystery. He relished a hearty meal out on the town, savoring both the flavors and the company. A social soul, Kenny had a gift for making friends and bringing people together, his laughter and warmth leaving an indelible impression on everyone he met.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Howard W. Gagen, and his dear friend Cheryl Lynn Brown. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Evelyn “Miss Eve” Gagen, who was his guiding light throughout his life, and his cherished friend Linda Dickerson. His siblings, along with countless other friends and acquaintances, will forever remember his kindness and infectious zest for life.
A special thanks is extended to the VA SCI unit, whose entire staff and residents made Kenny’s aka “Cowboy’s” time with them truly memorable. Their care and companionship were a source of comfort and joy in his final days.
Kenny Bryan Gagen’s legacy is one of service, resilience, and the profound impact of simple joys shared with others. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
