Kerry Alden Peters, Sr., a devoted family man and distinguished veteran, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 84. Born on October 22, 1940, in Milwaukee, WI, Kerry lived a life marked by dedication to his country, hard work, and love for his family.
Kerry began his esteemed career in the United States Navy, where he embarked on a remarkable journey through the ranks. Starting as an enlisted service member, he advanced to Warrant Officer and ultimately retired with honor as a Lieutenant Commander. His commitment to the Navy was profound, as he dedicated his skills to repairing vital compartments on ships in the Norfolk fleet, ensuring the safety and readiness of our naval forces.
After his retirement from the Navy, Kerry continued his passion for engineering at Delphius Engineering. His work ethic was unparalleled; he was known to be a tireless worker who continued contributing his expertise until he was 81 years old.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kerry cherished the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid fan of war movies, a voracious reader, and enjoyed watching crime series. He had a deep affection for his feline companions and his beloved dog, Minn, who brought him great joy throughout the years.
Kerry was also committed to serving his community, volunteering his time at Princess Anne Hospital, where his presence and support were deeply appreciated.
Kerry is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marguerite Peters, his beloved daughter Kelley Peters, and his second wife, Jackie Peters.
He is survived by Patricia Peters and their loving children: Dorie Johnson and her husband Frederick, Kerry Peters and his wife Jocelyn, and Shari Friedman and her husband Gregg. He leaves behind cherished memories with his grandchildren: Nicole Trail, Lauryn Coffey, Jared Johnson, Joel Johnson, Aiden Peters, Brennan Peters, Landon Friedman, Karis Friedman, and Leighton Friedman. Kerry also leaves a legacy in his great-grandchildren: Rylan Coffey, Sadie Coffey, Myles Coffey, Delilah Johnson, Lily Johnson, and Lucas Johnson.
In honoring Kerry’s wishes, services will be held privately.
