Kurt Reitz, 70, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 in Virginia Beach, Virginia surrounded by his loving family. Kurt was born December 4, 1952 to Roderick and  Jacqueline Reitz in Pittsfield, Mass. He was a graduate of Mount Greylock Highschool.

He then embarked on a life of adventure in the US Navy, retiring after 20 years. During that time he met and married Bonniebelle Jones. After graduating from Tidewater Community College with an Associates, he worked at Old Dominion University’s Perry Library for 22 years as a Systems Technician. Despite a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, he spent his retirement enjoying gardening, DIY work, and computers.

A cancer diagnosis derailed retired life for Kurt. The family thanks Dr. Edwin Crandley, Dr. Thomas Alberico, their staffs and nursing teams (particularly Faith!), Cheryl Milcarek and the other therapists who supported him.

He was predeceased by his parents, but has left behind a loving family that will miss him: his wife Bonniebelle; his daughter Emilie; his sister Linda Paquette, her husband Robert, their children, Andrian and April; his brother Alan, his wife Clara, and their children, Michaelyn and Konrad; as well as many friends and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to
