Larry Louis Facer, Sr., 69, died in Chesapeake, VA on May 1st. He was born in State College, PA on April 19th, 1941 to Richard Facer, Sr. and Betty Kerstetter Facer. He graduated from State College Area High School in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1962 and re-enlisted and served as a U.S. Navy Seabee from 1966-1982. Among his many duty stations he served two tours in Vietnam and two tours in Antarctica.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Facer and Mark Facer, wife Beate and three step-children William Cahoon, Joseph Cahoon, and Joshua Cahoon, four grandchildren, Larry Facer Ill, Kaitlin Facer, Christina Facer, and Alexander Facer. He is also survived by three brothers Richard Facer, Jr., Edward Facer, and Ernest Facer and their wives; and nieces and nephews as well as two former wives, Deborah McNeill and Marsha Facer. He was predeceased by his son Larry Facer, Jr., his sister Roberta Farkis and his parents. There will be a memorial service at Moyock United Methodist Church on Friday May 7th at 2pm officiated by Rev. Frank Jennings. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fisher House at Fisherhouse.org
Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
