Continue ReadingL. Newton Hunt, 95, went home to be with his Lord May 14, 2014. Mr. Hunt was born Nov 25, 1918 to the late I. Leon and Etta Miller Hunt of Westport, CT. He was a resident of the Gloucester area for 28 years. He served in WWII, first in the U.S. Coast Guard and then in the Military Police in the U.S. Army. He continued in law enforcement post war as a deputy sheriff in Martin County, FL. Mr. Hunt is the founder of Hunt Bros. Trading Corp. in Hayes. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Dorothy S. Hunt, two sons James wife Glennie of Yorktown, Bradford wife Lois of Gloucester, grandson, Jesse wife Kristi and great-grandson, Casey of Gloucester and a sister, Jean H. Tucker of St. Petersburg, FL. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 2:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church George Washington Memorial Hwy Ordinary, Virginia. Donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Hunt. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
