Leonard M. Allmond – Norfolk
Leonard M. “Pete” Allmond, Jr. went to be with the Lord December 17, 2010.
Born November 13, 1928, a native of Norfolk, VA he was the son of the late Pattie E. and Leonard M. Allmond, Sr. “Pete” proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and Naval Reserve during World War II. After the military, he envoked a career with Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock, retiring after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Bayside Lodge #218 A.F. & A.M. and Khedive Shriners; past captain of the Arab Patrol, a driver for Khedive Roadrunners transporting children to Shriners hospitals.
He leaves to cherish his memory sons Mel Allmond, his wife Gretchen of VA Beach, grandson Brock, great granddaughter Blake, her mother Courtney, and Zoe the dog, Ray Allmond, his wife Karen & Molly and Rocky of Germantown, MD, and Robert Allmond of Wilmington, DE; sisters Lucille Alexander of Norfolk, Anne Cross, her husband Richard of VA Beach and many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday January 15, 2011 at 2:00pm at King’s Grant Presbyterian Church, 745 Little Neck Rd, VA Beach with Dr. J. Seldon Harris officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Khedive Hospital Transportation Fund.
