Leone Elizabeth (Lee) Pilkerton passed away in her home in Norfolk, Virginia on June 7, 2023. Lee was 63 years old.
Lee was preceded in death by her father, Bernard Pilkerton and her mother Joan Goodrich Burr and is survived by her three sisters, Karen VanDruff (John) of Waynesburg, PA, Tracey Cairnie (Hilary) of Troy, VA, and Catherine Anne Knox of Highgate Center, VT, as well as dear friends Martha Martin and Janice Kelchner. She will also be remembered by her large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.
Lee was born on February 15, 1960, in Arlington, Virginia. She was graduated from Bishop Denis J. O’Connell in 1978 and moved to Norfolk, VA in 1986, where she lived for the remaining 37 years of her life.
During Lee’s years in Norfolk, she worked for World Travel Holdings for 19 years. Many of Lee’s colleagues were impressed by her innate ability to make people feel comfortable by creating a safe learning environment, having a willingness to help other agents and her contagious smile that warmed peoples’ hearts. During her tenure at WTH Lee received a number of service awards.
In Lee’s personal life she loved animals, being near the beach, was a voracious reader, enjoyed researching genealogy, and loved to travel through opportunities provided by WTH, her favorite places being England and Hawaii. She will also be remembered fondly by her sisters for her reenactment of the childhood song “Little Bunny Foo Foo.”
A memorial service will be planned for Spring/early Summer of 2024. Date and Time to be determined.
