Leonel (Butch) Joseph Octave Godbout Jr. went to be with Jesus Saturday, October 26, 2024 in Virginia Beach, VA surrounded by loved ones. Butch was born on September 6, 1959 in Norfolk, VA to the late Leonel Sr. (Chico) and Doris Godbout. He was a graduate of Bayside High School in Virginia Beach.
Through their sisters, Butch and his former wife Lori met in 1981 and married in 1983. Their union brought forth two children, Brittney and Leonel III (Trey). Although later divorced, Butch and Lori remained great friends. One of Butch’s greatest joys, besides his dogs, were golfcart rides with his grandchildren: Hector (16), Ariel (13), Paisley (7), and Noah (4). He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, loved Nascar, and enjoyed smoking meat for his friends and family! He adored his significant other, Deborah, who was right there by his side through his sickness. If you met Butch, you loved him, and you knew he loved you, and he probably had a goofy nickname for you too. You could always find him in a Q. E. D. Systems shirt, as he loved his job and the people there, having dedicated almost 30 years of his life.
In addition to his parents, Butch was predeceased by his brother, Rick. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brittney (Hector) and Trey; four grandchildren; sisters, Chari and Gisselle; brother, Michael; and a host of family and friends.
If you knew Butch, you also knew he would want to be celebrated instead of mourned. There will be a party in his honor at his place in Knotts Island on November 17, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
