Linda Laity Hite, of Williamsburg, died on March 3, 2021 at the age of 71.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 16, 1949, she was the daughter of the late John Craig and Jean Vofrei Laity.
Beloved mother, friend, teacher, and ardent Hokie, she earned her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech, and later a master’s degree from the College of William & Mary. She was an inspirational teacher of mathematics for more than 30 years; delighting every day in sharing a love of math with her students. Her career took her from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, to York High School in York County, and finally, Jamestown High School in James City County. She was a longtime and active member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordan C. Hite. She is survived by her sister, Pamela Laity-Schabacker and her husband Michael of Williams, Arizona; her daughter, Kimberly Reubush and her husband Jorge Garcia of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama; her son, D. Chandler Reubush, wife Emily, granddaughter, Cricket and grandson, Quill of Los Gatos, California; and her partner, Jim Weilmuenster of Yorktown, Virginia.
