Lisa A. Ziemke died peacefully the evening of 27 Sept 2012. Courageous to the end, as in her life, she was surrounded by her family. Originally from Charlotte, NC, and an alumnus of the University of North Carolina, she retired as a successful US Naval Officer and Fellow in the College of Health Care Executives. Lisa did it all: leader, teacher, mentor, wife, but she was first and foremost a mom. She began and ended each day with a prayer, a smile and a kiss for her “boys.” She passed through her time on earth with such poise and grace! She truly was a remarkable woman. She was passionate about her love and dedication for her family; her three boys: Jacob, Jimmy and Alex and her husband Gregg. She especially loved watching her sons play baseball. She was devoted to her mother Clara and her sister Wanda and her family. Lisa was always a high-energy person who juggled many schedules while worshiping life. A woman of strong faith, Lisa spent much of her precious 49 years serving others. She has left us too soon and we love her and miss her terribly. But we know she is at peace and now with her god.
Lisa’s family extends their most humble gratitude to family, friends, our Church, the team at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, UNC Cancer Centers, Sentara Hospice and any others who have touched us during these difficult times. A Memorial Service for Lisa will be conducted at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church on 13 Oct at 3 pm. Please send all memorials and donations to Great Bridge Presbyterian Church or Sentara Hospice Services. Please say a prayer for those who have cancer, and support cancer research, it truly can be an awful disease. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27
