Lloyd Clark Clevinger II, 64, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Lloyd was born in Hampton, Virginia and graduated from Menchville High School. He then attended William and Mary and Hampton University, achieving a degree in Business Administration. One of his fondest memories was being part of the original crew to open Busch Gardens in 1974 and the lasting friendships developed during that time. A Clydesdale horseshoe has been prominently displayed ever since!
Lloyd followed in his father’s footsteps, working at Huntington Ingalls. Lloyd enjoyed a career in Contract Negotiations where he achieved the title of Master Shipbuilder. He especially enjoyed working on the USS Enterprise, one of the first fully nuclear ships built. It was apparent to all that Lloyd loved his job. He took great pride in finding solutions and being a mentor to future leaders and coworkers.
Lloyd loved to travel to new places and did so extensively both for work and pleasure. His favorite places to visit were Spain and Italy, or anywhere there was a Margaritaville! There was always a trip “on cue” for the next adventure. Lloyd enjoyed cooking for family and friends, gardening, taking walks in the neighborhood and riding his golf cart at their home in South Carolina where he and Renae lived for the past 10 years. He is remembered most for his quick smile, big hugs and generous spirit. Everyone was greeted like they were life-long friends and he was always referred to as “a great guy!”
Lloyd will be missed and cherished by many business associates, close friends and family. He is preceded in death by his father; Lloyd Clark Clevinger, 1983. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Renae; step-son, Jeremy VanSickle; granddaughter, Caelynn VanSickile; mother and step-father, Frances and George Zetts; brother and wife, Scott and Nannette Clevinger; niece, Amanda Clevinger; nephew and wife, Noah and Rebecca Clevinger.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
