Lloyd Ray Johnston

August 8, 1959 - May 25, 2018

Lloyd Ray Johnston, 58, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Huey PA, passed away May 25 after a short, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd E and Dorothy Curry Johnston, wife Holly (Earley) and sister Cathy “Chatty” Klingensmith. Left to cherish Ray’s memory are brothers Jim Johnston and wife Cindy, Ron Johnston and wife Cathy , Joe (Karen) Johnston and Scott (Gloria) Johnston, all of PA, beloved nephew Jarod Wilson of Virginia Beach, loving companion Susan Gott, and many, many other family and friends. Also important to Ray was his fraternal brothers and sisters of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3204.

Earning a living doing concrete work for Capital Concrete and Bay Concrete, outside work, Ray was not one to rest, cutting trees and fixing cars. Also known to some as RayRay or Ray the Tree Guy, Ray never met someone who needed help that he did not help, embracing the FOE’s motto of “people helping people”.

Ray enjoyed Steeler football, NASCAR and the challenge of playing pool, often taking opponent’s sticks as trophies. Ray will surely be missed daily by many. A memorial service will be held at the FOE, Saturday, June 16, starting at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to FOE3204 Building Fund, 1061 Newtown Rd, Va Beach, 23462. Jesus Christ said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life; and everyone that is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all.” (John 11: 25, 26) Also, just before resurrecting his friend Lazarus, Jesus compared death to sleep because people can be awakened from sleep, thanks to the power of God. Ray, you truly were a good guy. Thank you for all the help you gave me over the years. You will be missed by so many people but your kind spirit will live on forever.

To the Johnston family & Sue Gott, I am sorry to hear that "RayRay" has passed away. Sending prayers, hugs and much love to you all. He will greatly be missed by so many people. He is no longer in any pain now. RIP "RayRay".

On this very sad occasion I wish to offer condolences to all near and dear to Brother Ray from Raymond and Dale Taylor. May God bless and keep all of the family and friends. I will miss Brother Ray for his many kindness to me and Dale.

Brother Ray, our dear friend was a man of his word. If he said, "I will help you", he did! A good Pool and Horseshoe player, he loved his Pittsburgh Steeler team. We miss him dearly and hope the Family and Susan find some closure by remembering all the good Ray did for people.

'Brother Lloyd ('RAY') will always to be remembered as a 'Friendly Eagle' who spoke only about the good in people. For many years he visited his Aerie 3204 Home to partake in Pool, Horseshoe playing, watching sports or general talk with members. He always helped his brothers and sisters and he supported the many Aerie 3204 charities. On each visit, he brought 'High Eagle Spirit' and spoke of the good things in life. We miss him dearly. The Officers and Members of the Virginia Beach Aerie No. 3204 join in extending Heartfelt Sympathy to the Family and Susan at this Time of Sorrow.

Ray was a great man he never treated me or my kids different we where never his step nieces and nephew we where just family.
