Louie A Schwartz, Sr, 86 U. S. Navy LCDR, retired, of Harling Drive, went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2018. Born in Friona, TX, on January 8,1932. He was the son of the late Wesley and Grace Schwartz. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Marie A. Schwartz, and 8 siblings, and one special granddaughter, Stephanie Smith. He has one brother and sister still living. Louie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his five children, Marie Sawyer (Ken), Carolyn Smith (Atlee), Louie, Carrie Brown, and John. Seven grandchildren. Lisa Cordy, Kenny Sawyer, A. J. Smith, Joseph and Joshua Brown, Rachel and Johnathon Schwartz. He also has 5 great grandchildren, Daniel and Brandon Cordy, Lily, Christopher and Amy Schwartz.

He entered the U.S. Navy on May 10, 1951. He started as a fireman and retired on September 30,1976 as a LCDR. He did 25 years of service for our Country. Received three Good Conduct Medals; National Defense Service Medal; Letter of Commendation; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Dominican Republic); Meritorious Unit Commendation. He worked at AMSEC for another 25 years.

There will be a graveside service at Bethel Baptist cemetery (Elbow Road, Chesapeake) Thursday, September 13 at 10 am. He will be buried with full military honors.
