Louis Elwood Craft, Jr. went to be with the Lord at home in the early morning hours of September 16, 2023. Elwood was born on August 27, 1942 in Norfolk, VA. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis Elwood Craft, Sr. and Delores Jean Waggoner Craft. He leaves behind two sisters, Linda Dodson (David) and Sandra MacKay (Scott).
Elwood loved being an uncle and great-uncle to his numerous nieces and nephews. As a member of Kings Grant Baptist Church, he served faithfully as an usher for many years and was devoted to his Four Square Sunday School class. After fifty years of service, Elwood retired from the grocery business, where he worked first for BeLo and then for Food Lion.
Elwood will be remembered for his kind and loving spirit and for his sense of humor. He never met a stranger. He loved to recount stories of his life adventures, which wasn’t difficult since every day to him was an adventure. Elwood loved traveling, fishing, NASCAR, football, bowling, family gatherings, and especially wrestling.
A celebration of life will be held on October 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Kings Grant Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Westminster Canterbury Hospice and Matrixx Healthcare. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in his memory to Kings Grant Baptist Church.
