We are sad to announce the passing of Lucretia “Hope” Britton Brown, 52, of Newport News, VA. She passed away at home on March 13, 2024. Her departure leaves a huge void.
Hope was born in Rochester, NY to Ben and Birder Britton on March 26, 1971.
After graduating from high school, Hope joined the military where she met Ricardo Brown in 1990 and they married in 1992. She was deployed during the Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm).

She was employed with VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation from 2020 until her demise. Other employments include: Cornell Technical Services (Government Contractor for NASA); Thomas Nelson Community College; Portfolio Recovery Associates; and Woodside Hospital, LLC.
Hope filled the room with her beautiful welcoming smile. She had the ability to motivate and inspire while spreading joy and happiness wherever she went. However, her headstrong personality and blunt honesty made her a force to be reckoned with.
She is survived by her husband, Ricardo; parents, Ben and Birder Britton; parents-in-law, Henry and Erma Brown; sister, Benita (Johnie); brother, Stacey (Bridget); sister-in-law, Marcia; brother-in-law, Marlon; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends whom she considered family.
