Mary Angela Yestadt, 97, passed away on December 6, 2014. A resident of Newport News, she was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Charles Yestadt.

“Angie” was an active member of her community making her career of over 40 years working at Newport News Shipbuilding as a secretary in the Electrical Engineering Department. An avid golfer, she was a member of both the James River Country Club and the Deer Run Ladies Golf Association. She was also a woman of strong faith and a devout member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She was a renowned piano teacher to numerous young people and was the pianist for the Warwick Kiwanis Club.

Angie leaves to cherish her memory her sister Joyce Y. Mason, her nieces Mary “Chris” Mason and Leslie Cherry, and her nephews Alan C. Mason and Norman H. Mason along with many great nieces and nephews. Private services are being held by the family. Contributions may be made in Angie’s memory to the American Red Cross.

Angie provided sage council to me as a young electrical designer in the 1970's. A very caring person.

I will always remember Angie as a true Southern lady. She was cherished in life and will be missed greatly by many, including me.

Angie was a best friend and loving Aunt. She will always remain in my memory as happy and forever young.

I will always remember Angie and her pearls, always dressed to the hilt. I will remember also how she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She made us feel welcomed to the family.

My condolences to Angie's family. She was always a very friendly and loving lady. Peace be with you!!

Angie was a dear friend and a great golf teacher. I miss our days on the golf course. Cherished memories.
