Margit Anna Fountain, age 88, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 12th surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. Margit was born on October 10, 1936 in Lutzelsachsen, Germany to Herman and Erna Paul. She was predeceased by her husband Billy Vernon Fountain in 2011 and is survived by her Sister, Charlotte Poillucci.
Margit arrived in the United States shortly after her birth in Germany and spent her early years in New York. Upon graduation from High School, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and she graduated from Basic Training. Her dream to travel the world was realized when she was later stationed in Naples, Italy, where she met her husband Billy, who was also assigned to the NATO US Command Staff. Margit and Billy were married in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1959. Margit was a very hardworking mother and devoted Marine Corp wife and life was challenging – she was the glue that held the family together through years of military deployments and changing duty stations. The family finally settled in Virginia Beach, VA in 1977 where they made a permanent home for the family to grow and prosper.
Margit’s greatest joy was spending time with her children, extended family, neighbors, and friends. She was an avid gardener, cook, and loved sewing, handcrafting and staying active. Beyond her role as a mother, Margit was an active member of her Church, YMCA and a proud USMC Veteran.
Margit is survived by her children Terry Fountain Johnston, Eric Fountain, Chris Fountain and wife Nicole Fountain of Virginia Beach; and Heidi Fountain Kisiel and husband Thad Kisiel of Ormond Beach Florida. She is cherished by her 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Please offer your fondest condolences to the family at www.vacremationsociety.com.
