Marietta B. Waisanen

Virginia Beach – Marietta B. Waisanen, 54, passed away September 6, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Grayling, Michigan on December 12, 1957 and attended school in Roscommon, Michigan and graduated with the Class of 1976. Prior to her illness, Mary was employed by Waymar Inc. of Virginia Beach where she devoted 24 years of her service as Secretary/Treasurer. Mary was a hard worker, but she also enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She was a second mom to her niece Kristina and she enjoyed reading and knitting. She was a fan of Nascar and football and enjoyed her weekly pool league and her fun time at the casinos. Preceding her in death are her parents, Walter and Florence Waisanen; two brothers, Harold and Gary; sister, Susan; and her loving companion of many years, Bill Hendricks. She is survived by three brothers; James Lura and Robert of Michigan, Roger of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Jean Kelly of Kentucky, Carol West and Helen Whitmer Jim of Michigan and Kathleen of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 1:00pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd., Virginia Beach, Va 23462.
