REMEMBERING
VIRGINIA BEACH – Marion Murphy Kennedy, 93, passed away peacefully on her husband’s birthday (predeceased Captain James J. Kennedy) December 22, 2023, with her children by her side. She was survived by her four children, Thomas and his wife Pat, Gary and his wife Laurie, Susan, and Jimmy and his wife Lea Anne; nine grandchildren, Gary II (Ann), Danny, Tommy, Lindsay, Amanda (Buddy), Sarah (Jereme), Kelsi, Dallas, and Walker; thirteen great grandchildren, Colin, Caleb, Finn, Jameson, Maci, Griffin, JJ, Leif, Erin, Cora, Liam, Aubrey, and Emmitt; favorite niece, Marion Murphy Guilford; cousins; and many good friends.
Marion was a Navy wife for 37 years and enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout Europe, Canada, Hong Kong, Alaska, and the United States. She worked at Miller and Rhodes Department Store, volunteered helping with the mentally challenged, and retired from Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
Marion’s hobbies included camping, fishing, reading, playing Mahjong, shopping, and enjoying time with her grandchildren.
Her children would like to thank Sentara Wound Healing Center at Sentara Leigh Hospital; Sheila’s Place; and Wings Over Virginia Hospice for her care.
A small service will be held at the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
