Mark Steven Smith, 72, passed on April 30, 2026. He was born in Newport News, raised in Poquoson, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to build his life. He lived in Georgia for over 30 years before moving back to the peninsula to be close to family.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys G. Smith and his sister, Susan S. Blevins.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Amelinda S. Parkinson (Tyler) of California; two grandchildren: Cogeian Embry (Faith) and Nova Parkinson also of CA; one great grandchild, Valentine Embry; his father, Roland L. Smith of Tennessee; his sister, Becky S. Parker (Richard) of Williamsburg; his brothers Roland L. Smith Jr. of Tennessee, and David E. Smith (Debbie) of Gloucester. He also has many nieces and nephews.

Mark will be remembered for his kindness and love for others. He always helped those less fortunate than himself. His wish would be to share an act of kindness with others. We will cherish and love his sweet soul till we meet again.
