It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martha Emily Brickhouse, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on March 26, 2025. Born in 1943, Martha lived a life filled with love, laughter, and creativity, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Martha was the cherished wife of Leo Frank Brickhouse, with whom she shared an extraordinary 62 years of marriage. Their bond was a testament to true partnership, characterized by unwavering support, shared dreams, and a deep love that flourished through the years. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home, where family and friends gathered to celebrate life’s moments.
Martha was a devoted mother to her daughters, Tonya Fentress and Marcy Mibach, and her late son, Reggie Brickhouse, who passed away in 2019. She took immense pride in her family, including her granddaughter, Elle Mibach, and her son-in-law, Richard, and daughter-in-law, Tina, along with their children, Malinda and Martin. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
A woman of many talents, Martha had a passion for fashion and interior decorating, showcasing her incredible artistic abilities in every aspect of her life. She had a unique gift for connecting with animals, and her home was always filled with the love of her sweet little creatures. Martha was also a culinary legend, known for her delicious meals and sweet treats, often shared with her beloved sister, Marietta, as they cooked together in the kitchen.
Her garden was a source of joy, particularly her cherished tomato plants, where she often bested Frank in their friendly tomato contests. Martha took great pride in her beautiful yard, lovingly maintained with her riding lawnmower, which she claimed as her own. Her love for birds brought her immense happiness, and she eagerly anticipated the arrival of hummingbirds each spring.
Martha’s passion for shopping and fashion was evident in her impeccable style, and she cherished her regular hair appointments with lifelong friends Debbie and Dianne. The holiday season was particularly special to her; she poured her heart into decorating for Christmas, creating a festive atmosphere that welcomed family and friends year after year.
As we reflect on Martha’s life, we remember her as a vibrant spirit who brought joy to those around her. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will be profoundly missed. Christmas will never be the same without her, and we are all left with a void that can never be filled.
Martha Emily Brickhouse was not just a mother, a wife, or a friend; she was our “sissy woman,” our guiding light, and our beloved matriarch. Though she has departed from this world, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. We are lost without her, but we will carry her memory with us always.
