Martha J. Willey, 82, passed away on Oct 2, 2011.
She was born in Winthrop, Mass, on April 13, 1927. She was predeceased in life by her husband, George H. Willey, “Ret” US Navy CDR.
She is survived by her three sons, “her boys”, G. Michael Willey Kerri, David L. Willey Carol, and Stephen P. Willey Kim. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Mary Rachel, Krystin Kay, and David Brock.
Along with 26 years of supporting her husband’s Navy career, Martha and George enjoyed very much their time spent volunteering at Lynnhaven Boys Baseball, and later turning their love for sports to the family owned Willey’s Sporting Goods store they operated in the Lynnhaven area of Virginia Beach for many years. Martha often spoke of all the great times spent at the ball fields with family and friends. As the boys grew older the family turned to Carova Beach, NC for fun and relaxing family gatherings.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Martha’s life on Sunday October 9th from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the home of David & Carol Willey. Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, Carova Beach Voluntary Fire Department or Lynnhaven Boys Baseball. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
