Virginia Beach-Martha-Lou Sampson Rich, age 82, of Virginia Beach, VA, ascended to eternal rest on May 21, 2026. Born on August 10, 1943, in Decatur, IL, she was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.
Martha-Lou dedicated over twenty years of her life as a devoted Secretary at Bayside Presbyterian Church, where her unwavering commitment and kindness touched the lives of countless individuals. Her life was a testament to faith and service, as she was deeply involved with her church family. An active member of Haygood United Methodist Church, she spent many joyful hours in Bible study and sharing her profound wisdom and love for the Lord with others.
For more than sixty years, Martha-Lou shared a beautiful marriage with her beloved husband, Charles Rich, who preceded her in death. She is also reunited with her parents, Claire and Lou Esther Sampson and her brother, Bill Sampson.
Martha-Lou’s legacy continues through her cherished family: her three children, Kevin Rich (Wendy), Eric Rich (Lisa), and Dee Cool (Chip); her adored grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, Amanda, Megan, Stephanie, Brittany, Kevin, and James; brother, Jack Sampson and numerous great-grandchildren, each a living testament to her nurturing spirit and boundless love.
Her life will be celebrated at a service held at Haygood United Methodist Church, with a private burial to follow at a later date. Those wishing to honor Martha-Lou’s memory are encouraged to post their fondest condolences to the family on the Cremation Society of Virginia website.
