Mary Ann, 100, lived a rich full life. She is cherished in memory by her devoted daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Sue Williams. Mary Ann was born in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Frederick Ernet August Albert Von Rouseler Metzler and Esther Katherine Crawford. She was also predeceased by her husband, Roger Thornton Williams; her sister, Roberta McGregor and a son, James C. Williams.
Mary Ann in the ensuing years lived in New Orleans, on the Crawford family ranch in Menard, Texas during the Great Depression, eventually moving to Connecticut finishing her high school years and going to Connecticut University. She later got her Masters degree from Old Dominion University. Mary Ann loved teaching as much as her husband loved being the Assistant Attorney General for the region. She taught for 28 years in the Va Beach school system, and after retiring, did 17 years as a volunteer and the Adult Learning Center. After her husband died, Mary Ann moved to Westminster Canterbury where for 27 years she enjoyed playing bridge as often as she could. She enjoyed Suduko, New York Times puzzles that she would do in ink, and reading. When she got a kindle from her son, Roger and he showed her how to use it, she had a constant source of books to enjoy. Mary Ann was well liked by anyone who would meet her. At the age of 99, she was still walking daily passing by many who were younger than she as she did so.
