Chesapeake- Mary B. Andrews, 85, died Sept. 11, 2009.

Born in Raleigh, NC, She was a longtime member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Great Bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband John W. Andrews and her daughter Mary Elizabeth Dominguez. She is survived by two sons, W. John Andrews and wife Diane of Yorktown VA, and Michael R. Andrews and wife Brenda of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren, Jay, David, Julia, Amy, Clarissa, Rachele, Mark, Robert and Nathan and five great grandchildren, Sarah, Tori, Ashley, Kayleigh, and Lincoln.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, 16 September at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Great Bridge by the Rev. Michael Spear-Jones.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

We will miss her even from this distance--she was such a model of a caring, loving person. You are all in our prayers.

We were fortunate to have Mary as our neighbor for many years. Her smile, her laugh, will always be missed.We will have fond memories of Mary forever. Our sincere sympathy goes out to her family.

I was sad to hear of Mrs. Andrews passing. My husband saw it on Va. Pilot online the morning of the memorial service. Mrs. Andrews was an important part of my life as a teenager as Liz was my best friend then. My first camping experience was with them. Whenever I think of her, I think of her caring and quiet manner, always willing to help. She made my wedding cake for me. I've talked to her a few times throughout the years and my mother has too. Last time they saw each other was at the same doctor's office recently. I'm sorry for your loss, which I know is great. She was a wonderful person.

Mary's husband John was my dad's brother, and during our growing-up years, a visit from their family was always a cause for great excitement. It has been many years since I've seen her, but I will always remember her sweet smile and southern accent. Much love to my cousins and their families.

I NEVER MET MARY, BUT WHEN SHE HAD TO GIVE UP HER DOG, WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE CLEMENTINE HER DOG . SHE IS GENTLE,LOVING AND BRINGS NOTHING BUT JOY TO US. WE BELIEVE THAT THE DOG IS LIKE THAT BECAUSE MARY RAISED HER WITH HER LOVE, PATIENCE AND KINDNESS. YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.. CLEMIE MISSES YOU SO MUCH....

I am so very sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I made an attempt this evening to email her at Maryinchesapeake@webtv.net, but received an "undeliverable" message. I last received a letter from her in January 2009 and she told me that she had moved. I was trying to email her another picture I found of her Dad / my Grandfather William Dewey Brown. Mary and I first talked by phone after I made a trip to Hampton Roads area and the National Cemetery to visits William and Annie's graves. I wish I could have gotten to know her better. I wish I had met her. Please accept my sincere heart felt condolences. Micheal Olsen
