Mary K. Cox passed away in Norfolk, VA at the age of 65. She was born January 14, 1959 in Rockford, IL to Charles B. and Germaine T. Cox and returned to the cosmos October 18, 2024. She graduated from Boylan Catholic High School in 1977 and would live a number of places around the country throughout her life where she made sure to leave her corner of the world more beautiful.
Mary had a vibrant personality and sparked up a conversation wherever she went. She loved to wear her signature tie-dye t-shirts, had a passion for nature, and all things weird. You could always find her looking out the window at her birds and wildlife and spending as much time as she could with her three grandkids-Charlie, Damien, and Sequoia. She was a dedicated healthcare provider in respiratory and sleep studies for the majority of her life and has chosen to make an anatomical gift to science after fighting a short battle with endometrial cancer.
Our family is grateful for the caring support from the Cremation Society of VA, Interim Hospice, and Sentara Hospital as well as family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Chelsey (Jamal) and three grandchildren of Norfolk, VA. Left to cherish her memory are her three siblings: Diane (Scott) of Phoenix, AZ, Dave (Marcia) of Ft. Collins, CO, and Gary (Carol) of Roscoe, IL as well as her beloved nieces and nephews; she also left a notable impact on the many lives of patients and friends she has connected with over the years. Predeceased by parents. Celebration of Life will be held, date and location TBD. Condolences may be left for the family at www.vacremationsociety.com.
