On Friday, February 18, 2022, Mary Kathleen Champaco peacefully passed away to heaven. Mary was 78 yrs old and born in Indianapolis, IN, to Billie Darline and Harry K. Scott. Predeceased by both parents, her husband, Van Champaco and her son Gary Siddens. Mary worked as an Optical Lab Tech for many years. Survived by her sons, James Siddens (Mary) of Gulf Breeze, FL and Douglas Siddens (Kim) of Chesapeake, VA, her sisters, Georgia Webb of Mattoon, IL, Melody Lilly of Beecher City, IL and Dixie Sue Thacker of Mattoon, IL, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary’s greatest joy in life was spending time with and taking care of her family. She raised her three boys as a single mom. She truly cherished her grandchildren.
Mary was someone who was kind, giving, loving and had a great sense of humor; Mary enjoyed sewing, dancing, and making cookies and pies for those she loved and cared about. She lived at the Chesapeake House on the Bay for 24 years and whenever someone new moved in, she would welcome them with her homemade cookies or a pie. Mary also was keen to know if someone was going through struggles or hard times and would make them cookies and hang them on their door. Mary loved her social gatherings and cookouts over the years at the Chesapeake House on the Bay. She cherished many wonderful friendships she had with her neighbors. Mary especially enjoyed taking walks and even over the Lesner Bridge up until she was not feeling well. She was also a wonderful cook and loved to try other’s cooking.
Mary has requested not to have a memorial service, so her family will be respecting that wish. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests that donations be made to the Ocean Park Volunteer Rescue which was Mary’s favorite charity. Go to VBRESCUE1.com to donate in memory of Mary.
