Mary Lee Roberts Yeatts died peacefully on December 9, 2024. She was born March 27, 1945, at her grandmother’s home in Elmont, Virginia to Mary Elizabeth Brock and Andrew Lee Roberts, II. She was a graduate of Warwick High School and attended Christopher Newport College. She also attended the School of Fashion Design in Atlanta, Georgia. There she developed her love of sewing and creating craft pieces. Her sister, children and grandchildren were beneficiaries of her skill throughout her life. Her creations included clothing for people as well as many dolls and handwork pieces.
Mary Lee began her working career at Thomas Nelson College and Pulliams. She retired in 2017, after working 39 years for the Navy in Norfolk, handling acquisitions to supply ships. She married Donald Alvis Yeatts in 1993 and had a very happy marriage. They traveled throughout the United States to visit relatives and to National Parks to collect passport stamps. She particularly enjoyed visits to Myrtle Beach and “the mountain” in Roanoke for family gatherings.
Mrs. Yeatts was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Andrew Lee Roberts, III. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald; her children, Traci Lee Edwards Ryan (John), Robert Wiley Edwards (Lisa), and William Stuart Edwards (Leanna); 8 grandchildren; her sister, Natalie Roberts Funk (Geoffrey); nieces, Elizabeth Roberts Saunders (Ralph) and Caroline Roberts Domeika (Paul); and 11 great grandchildren.
