Virginia Beach – Mary Lou Smith passed away December 4, 2012. She was born in Ohio to the late Frank and Eva Keeney and was the youngest of 7. Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband James; brothers and sisters, Harvey, Kenneth, Ed, and Bill Keeney, Hilda Dodge and Frances Fisher. Mary Lou was an active member at Bayside Baptist Church where she had many friends. She worked at the Virginia Beach Juvenile Court services for many years. She loved her job and everyone she worked with. Mary Lou had a close circle of friends that she enjoyed, where they would all get together to celebrate each others birthdays. She was artistic, creative and very smart. She loved to walk along the beach and collect seashells. She also collected rocks and ducks. Mary Lou loved her family very much and was loved deeply by them. She also adored and loved her pets. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Anna, and Teresa and husband Tim; sister-in-laws; special cousins; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends. The family would like to thank Sentara Hospitals and Virginia Beach Health Care and Rehab where many friends were made, for all their love and support. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. Va Bch, VA 23462 with family receiving friends an hour prior to services. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to www.cremate.org.
