Continue ReadingMary passed away on September 21, 2016 at 82 years of age. She was born on May 26, 1934 in Hoboken, NJ to Mary and William Schiraldo. Mary worked at Carlos Bakery when she was young, moving up to position of lead secretary of a shipping company, American Export Lines in New York City. Mary went on to marry Gerald R. Sims of Muskegon, Mich. (USN, Ret) and settled in Norfolk, VA. Mary was an avid gardener, cook and loved to crochet and knit. She was an active member of the Cath. Daughters of the Americas, Court 1212, two local knitting clubs, The Norfolk Garden Club, and a member of St. Pius X Cath. Church.
Mary is predeceased by two sisters, Sandra Little and Susan Poesl and is survived by her brother, William Schiraldo. Mary leaves behind Gerald, her husband of 52 years, her two loving daughters, Nancy Sims and Emilia (Matthew) Forgacs, seven Grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many dear friends. A memorial mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Oct 8, 2016 at 12:30 pm with visitation at 11:45 am and reception to follow in the parish hall.
