Melvin L. White, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. He was a lifelong resident of Chesapeake, VA.
After graduating from Oscar Smith High School, he proudly served 4 years in the United States Navy and then worked 30 years for Ford Motor Co.
Melvin joined the “Lifestyle Fitness Center” of Chesapeake and there he formed many friendships with staff and members that lasted until his passing.
Melvin is survived by his daughter Robin Dees, granddaughters Jessica White and Nadia Dees, sisters Kay Harrell and Junie Koonce, brothers Jerry White and Tommy White, and also many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 am with Rev. Thomas H. Everett officiating. A reception will follow at The Bay Club on Eagle Pointe Way, Chesapeake, VA.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to: American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed to vacremationsociety.com.
