After a courageous battle with cancer, Michael Estes passed away at the age of 61 to be with our Lord. Born and raised in Nashville, TN, he then graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. He dedicated his 40-year career to his country, first serving in the US Navy as a supply officer, then serving the people of the Navy as a financial manager for the Morale, Welfare and Recreation department. He was a devoted husband, father and committed Christian, from which he drew much strength. He was happily married for 38 years and is survived by his wife Judy, son Jason, daughter Mia, and faithful Labrador Sassy. An avid musician, he loved music and played piano and guitar by ear. Always kind, gentle and generous to everyone, he will be missed. A memorial service will be held at New Life Providence Church on Friday, August 20th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cremate.org.
