Norfolk- Mike Babashanian, 68, of Norfolk, died of lung cancer Oct. 6, 2016 at home in the arms of his wife, Debbi.

Mike was retired twice, once from the City of Norfolk, Codes Administration and then from Boyd Homes, Inc. He was a graduate of Bayside High and studied at Old Dominion University. In 1969, Mike enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as both an active duty service member and as a reservist. He was a member of the Ocean View Golf Association for many years where he got his hole in one and double eagle. He was a native of Bethesda, MD but his father’s military service took him all over the world.

Mike loved life and had a great sense of humor. He loved golfing, traveling with Debbi, his huge family, and he loved his pets.

His father, Col. John G. Babashanian, USMC (retired) and his mother, Ann M. Babashanian, preceded him in death. Left to remember him in addition to his wife, Debbi Rash Babashanian, are four brothers; Jack Babashanian (Heather) and Mark Babashanian of Chesapeake, David Babashanian of Va. Beach, and Gary Babashanian (Barbara) of New Bern, NC. , two sisters; Terry Williams (Doug) and Kathy Poindexter (Wes) of Va. Beach as well as many treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his dogs Cagney and Lacey and cats Jennyanydots and Grizabella.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, Wed. Oct. 12 at the Ocean View Golf Course, 9610 Norfolk Ave, in Norfolk followed by lunch.
