Michael “Mike” P. Loomis, 77, of Wichita Falls, TX, passed away on Saturday, September 2nd at his home in Virginia Beach surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Joan Loomis, of Biloxi, MS, and his youngest brother, Timothy Loomis, of Mountain Home, ID. He is survived by his wife, Josephine “Sue” Loomis; his daughter, Linda Ferguson (Mark); his sons, Bob Loomis (Michele) and William “Billy” Loomis (Christina); his sister, Patricia “Pat” Higginbotham of Ocean Springs, MS; and his brother, Robert “Steve” Loomis of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews who adored him as he loved to spoil them all and enjoyed giving dessert to them before dinner.
Mike, faithfully and proudly, served our country for 27 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Chief RadioMan (RMC). Some of his favorite pastimes were to go fishing and watch old Westerns like “The Rifleman”. His fondest place of residence was when he was stationed in Key West, FL.
The funeral will be a private ceremony with only family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital in Michael P. Loomis’ name, or words of condolences may be mailed to his wife of 56 years, Sue, to their home address.
