Michael Paul Loizides

Virginia Beach – Michael Paul Loizides, 79, beloved father, educator, and friend, passed away on December 2, 2024, in Virginia Beach, VA. Born on September 19, 1945, in Norfolk, VA, to James and Pauline Loizides, Mike was a proud graduate of Granby High School and Old Dominion University.
In 1969, Mike enlisted in the Army as a combat engineer, serving his country during the Vietnam War. For his dedication, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. It was during his time in the Army that he discovered his passion for teaching, which would become a cornerstone of his life.
Michael dedicated his career to education, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm as a college professor of marketing and management at institutions including Hampton University, Saint Leo University, Averett University, Bryant and Stratton College, and his alma mater, Old Dominion University. A proud member of Theta Chi Fraternity, he was instrumental in founding ODU’s chapter and served as the Alumni Corporation Secretary for over 40 years, embodying his lifelong commitment to mentorship and service.
Above all, Mike lived for his daughter, Rebecca Alexandra Loizides, who was his greatest source of pride and joy. Known for his famous rice pudding and warm presence, Mike’s legacy extends beyond his family to the countless lives he touched through his teaching and friendships.
Mike is survived by his cherished daughter Rebecca, her husband Blaine, and their grand-dog , Doodle as well as his brother Thomas (Teresa) and step children. His memory will also be carried on by the many friends, family, and fraternity brothers who were fortunate to know him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 1969 Woodside Lane, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.
