Mike was a fraternity brother of mine at Old Dominion University. When I joined Theta Chi Fraternity, Mike was a key member of the Alumni Association. He frequently attended our events and was always willing to provide support and advice to the younger members. He will be missed.
Carlton Bennett left a message on December 7, 2024:
Mike was a dear friend and fraternity brother who I have known since 1968. He was one of the founding members of Theta Chi Fraternity at Old Dominion University, initiate number 9. The chapter was successful because of his leadership and now has over 1,000 members. He was chairman of the philanthropy committee and coordinated the Red Cross blood drives on campus, which were hugely successful. For over 40 years, he served as secretary of the alumni corporation. He received the Theta Chi alumni award. We all loved him and will miss our brother, Mike. My condolences to Rebecca and the rest of the family. Sincerely, Carlton Bennett

I attended Old Dominion with Mike and we were in the same fraternity. Mike was an intelligent, kind and hard-working person who was always willing to help out or take the initiative when there was a job to be done. It was an honor to be his fraternity brother.
