Chesapeake- Nancy Ann White Hoggard, 65, left behind her friends and family on Tuesday, Oct. 25 to join her beloved husband of 40 years, Sherman D. Hoggard, her sister Annie Lou Campanella (Larry) and her little brother John Drew White in Heaven.
Nancy was the youngest daughter of Brodie and Thelma White of Pocosin Road, Askewville, NC. She retired from Bank of America in Norfolk, and in her early 50’s, went on to become a nurse at Maryview Hospital for 14 years.
When she wasn’t napping at odd hours, she could be found taking her friends to doctors’ appointments, the grocery and shopping. She loved helping people. She was a straight-shooter quick to tell the truth even if it offended.
A lover of flowers, thrift stores, the library, PBS, and a good meal, Nancy will be sorely missed by many. Left to cherish her memory are her son Dan Hoggard (April) of Norfolk; her brother Brodie Allen White (Shirley) of Askewville, and their boys Allen and Kevin; brother Bruce White (Becky) of Hertford and their son Bruce Jr.; her beloved nieces, Earline Cross (Bill) of Hertford, and Heather Wells (Jonathan) of Aulander and their much loved boys Dylan and Isaac; her cousin Charlene Phelps of Merry Hill; her cousin Sheila Mitchell of Askewville; close friends Myra Finney, Kathleen Jacocks, both of Chesapeake and Wanda Williams of Kempsville; among many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be performed Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. by her nephew Allen White at Wakelon Baptist Church, 2452 Wakelon Rd. Colerain, NC 27924. In lieu of flowers, family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice in her honor.
