Continue ReadingNancy Baird Matthews, 70 died March 9th, 2024 in Franklin, Virginia. Nancy was born on September 16th, 1953 in Suffolk, Virginia. Nancy was one of four daughters born to Mary Lavelette Baird and Samuel Kenneth Baird and was the widow of Wayne Matthews. Nancy was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Suffolk, where she was an active member of the Surviving Sisters Group as well as regularly attending Sunday Services and Sunday School. Nancy, worked for many years, as some would say, as the backbone of Kings Fork Diesel. Nancy enjoyed fishing, playing cards with her friends, was also known as a pool shark and spending time with little dog Izzy. Nancy is survived by two sisters, Sandra Niebuhr and Bettie Carpenter, her son, Daniel Johnson, two grandchildren, Ian and Victoria Johnson and many lifelong friends. Services will be held at Southside Baptist Church, in Suffolk, on Saturday, March 16th at 11:00 am.
