Nancy Fravel Deskins, 91, of Williamsburg, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.T.; a sister and son, John William.

Nancy is survived by her loving family, daughter and son-in-law, Paula and David Fernandez of Snellville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Doreen Deskins of Williamsburg, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Michelle Deskins of Austin, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Donna Deskins of Powhatan, VA; her brother, Ben Fravel of Pasadena, MD; grandchildren, Sara Deskins, Adam Deskins, Nancy Hurte, Tate Deskins, Bryce Deskins and 7 great-grandchildren.

Nancy was a graduate of Madison College. She taught a few years before children in the Newport News Public School system and later was the librarian at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Hampton.

Nancy was an active member of the United Methodist Church. In addition to being a member of Wellspring UMC for the last 11 years, Nancy was a Charter Member of St. Luke’s UMC. She was also instrumental in the formation of Susanna Wesley UMC.

A memorial and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Wellspring United Methodist Church, 4871 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188 at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers make contributions to Wellspring UMC, Williamsburg, St. Luke’s UMC, Yorktown, or the charity of your choice.

Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News assisted the family with arrangements.

Praying for you and all your family. May our Lord give you comfort & peace in knowing that your dear Mother is with Him. Love & prayers.

We met Nancy and E.T. at Wellspring United Methodist Church, and enjoyed being with them in Sunday School; going to lunch after church; and visiting their home on many occasions. Frequently, after lunch, we enjoyed Nancy playing the piano, and we sang together. Our conversations during these times included Nancy and E.T. 's family history and always a detailed update on their children and their families. This was not a short update! She was extremely proud of all of them and their accomplishments. We loved them dearly. The attached picture, taken during our Thanksgiving visit of 2021 is one of our favorites. I always tried to get Nancy to laugh, through my silliness, at which time she would say: "Oooh Jay!" Finally, over the years, we always ended our conversations on the phone with: "Nancy, you and E.T. give each other a hug for us. We love you, blessings." We believe they are doing that now.

To Lee and family, So sorry to see that your mother passed...but no doubt she is "having" the time of her life now. Great lady, and always had great respect for her. Prayers for you friend. Gary Buckley
