Virginia Beach- Nancy Ganzel Wales, daughter of the late Louis Charles Ganzel, Jr. and Mary Ann Ganzel died on June 28, 2017 at Atlantic Shores where she resided the last 2 years of her life.
She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Butler Wales, Jr., and son Mark Bennett Wales of Hatteras and survived by three sons, Peter G. Wales, Lawrence B. Wales, III, and David H. Wales of Bozeman, Montana and all her favorite eight grandchildren, Beckett W. Wales of Sarasota, Florida, Sarah B. Wales, Peter D. Wales, L.B. Wales, IV, Marla Sydney Wales, Powells Point, NC, Bennett W. Wales and Amy M. Wales and Kayla H. Wales both of Bozeman.
She will also be missed by her devoted sister, Teedie Ganzel with whom she took many wonderful trips to Italy and France.
She and her husband shared a love of art and Rome and she enjoyed playing tennis at the Princess Anne Country Club for many years.
She also was an active member of both the Norfolk Society of Art and the Hermitage Foundation to which she brought many fine artists and art historians to their lecture series and loved hosting them at her home the night before the lectures at Chrysler Museum.
A memorial service and reception will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Galilee Episcopal Church, where she was a longtime member and she will be buried in the Galilee Columbarium. Rev. Kathleen M. Bobbitt will officiate the ceremony.
