She fought a long four year battle with this ugly thing called cancer. She had so many friends who loved and cared for her that she would have wanted to “thank you” all. A special thanks to Renee Ito, Allison Downer O’Brien, and Renee Hannas AKA the other Renee for being there for her as her “GREATEST supporters” during her battle. We would like to thank Riverside Hospice for the amazing care and concern they showed Pam, with a special thanks to Kasey and Denise.
If you knew Pam it was obvious that she was a very eccentric woman in life. She had a loving passion for rescuing lost and lonely cats. Her big heart deemed her the “crazy cat lady” from time to time. Her final adoption was her first dog, Sadie; Pam always said that they rescued each other.
Pam was predeceased in life by her parents Robert Sunagel and June Marie Lowery. She leaves behind her step-mother of over 45 years, Elizabeth J. Sunagel; two sisters Phyllis and Jim Berthoud of Flagstaff, AZ and Julie and Andy Newbern of Portsmouth, VA; two brothers Ken and Renee Hannas of Chesapeake, VA and Roger and Patty Hannas of Virginia Beach, VA. She also has several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Pam’s life work was being a compassionate nurse, a career that spanned over 40 years. Her passing has taken a piece of all our hearts. Her loving free spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life is planned for February 2015 in Virginia Beach, VA.
