Patrice Benner (lovingly known as Dicka by friends and family), age 68, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Patrice was born in Portsmouth Virginia on August 1, 1953.
Patrice was a graduate of Princess Anne High School, and attended Hick’s beauty academy receiving her cosmetology license. She went on to hold certifications from John Jay of New Orleans and Vidal Sassoon of San Francisco.
She began her career as a stylist with Captain Freedoms in Norfolk, but spent most of her professional career managing her own private salon, Patrice’s Hair and Infinity Design, in Virginia Beach. Her salon was a social and community hub where it was always full of warmth, conversation, and the most current trends and style.
Patrice is survived by her mother Rita Sahr of Virginia Beach, her daughter Sarah Holt and husband, Jeff of Virginia Beach, four sisters, Paula Herron of Virginia Beach, Maria McCarthy and husband, Wayne of Mashpee MA, Jan Gilman and husband, Jeff of Virginia Beach; and Christa Shirey of Virginia Beach, and three granddaughters, Sadie Burke, Brooklyn Holt, and Kennedy Holt, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, kindly make memorial contributions in memory of Patrice to the charity or organization of your choosing.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date and details will be shared once they are confirmed.

To the entire Benner family, I wish to express my condolences to each and every one of you. Dicka was a wonderful lady, with warmth and compassion, She spent a lot of time with my mom ( which mom loved her company ) playing skipo all day long when she wasn't working. Dicka will always be in my families thoughts and memory. so very sorry for your families loss.
