Patricia Ann Barber entered eternal rest on September 22nd, 2024 in Suffolk, Virginia. She was born in Williamston, North Carolina to the late Hilton and Emma Louise Nicholson Jones.
Patricia came from a large close-knit family, and she carried those family values with her until the very end. Often times called “Mama” by her children’s friends, Patricia had an open door policy, and a “give the shirt off your back” mentality. She was known for her sweet, selfless, yet stubborn spirit, her delicious cooking, spotless house, and a heart that was centered on her faith, and loved ones. She was a true force to be reckoned with, whose love permeated each and every one of us who were blessed enough to know her. Though she will be greatly missed, Patricia’s legacy will far supersede her death, and will continue to comfort those left behind for many years to come.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers William Casey Jones, Hilton Jones Jr., David Jones, and James Jones; sisters, Molly Beach Haislip, Elouise Fountain, and Martha Jones Davis. Left to cherish Patricia’s memory include her husband, Ricky Barber, two children; Rodney Smith and Christina Barber; brother Henry Jones; sisters Diana Nowack, Vera McCracken, and Elizabeth Griggs; grandchildren, Dameon Hilliker, Brandon Smith, and Christian Smith.
