Patricia Teresa Goetz, of Yorktown, VA passed away on November 4, 2023 as a result of congestive heart failure, which she had struggled with for a little more than a month. Her struggle is over, and she is surely in the loving arms of our Lord where she belongs.
Pat was born March 17, 1943 in Baltimore, MD to Marie (Kotkowski) and James Frank Sarnecki (both predeceased). She was to be named Teresa until she was born on St. Patrick’s Day and Teresa fell to middle name status. Sister to Norman (Carol), James (Barbara), Robert, Michael (Victoria), Rose Marie (all predeceased her) and Bernadette Troutman. She married Gordon E. Goetz in 1972 and had one son, Kevin (Susan) Smithfield Va. who blessed her with three grandchildren; Riley, Carter and Avery. She had two stepsons and called them bonus sons Mark (Nicole) of Long Island City, NY, and Patrick (Jennifer) of Baldwin, MD. Mark blessed her with one grandchild Lila, and Patrick blessed her with five grandchildren Christina, Kelli, Sam, Eyan and Gina.
Pat worked at Saval Foods in Baltimore as a bookkeeper until Kevin was born, so she could concentrate on being the best mother, a task she most definitely achieved. Family and friends were always of utmost importance to her. She moved to Flemington, NJ with Gordon and Kevin but never missed a Sarnecki family event in Baltimore. As the Baltimore Sarnecki family members would tell her: We know if we invite you, Gordon and you will be there. In Flemington, she made many friends and enjoyed lunches, bowling and crafting with them. She volunteered many hours at the local hospital, her Catholic church, and Meals on Wheels.
When Kevin and Susan shared they were expecting their first child, Pat ANNOUNCED, no discussion allowed, she and Gordon were moving to Virginia, and they lived in Yorktown since 2005. Pat was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother to her son and his family in Smithfield. She became a member of a handful of “girls” (regardless of their age) to lunch with and became best friends with Kay. She volunteered at her Parish Thrift Shop for years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crafting, and most of all, spending time with and doing for her Smithfield family. The best description of her is someone who could never do enough for someone whether they asked for or needed help or not – a true Christian.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church at 11:00 AM November 13, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (https://www.tmcfunding.com/funds/patricia-t-goetz/8769/).
