On March 28th at 3:05 PM in Chesapeake, Virginia surrounded by her loving family the chariot swung low and Patricia “Pat” Marie Englant, DC, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, nana, aunt, and friend flew home; turning in the old rugged cross for her crown. Pat will be forever missed as she starts her everlasting eternal life; but remembered by all who came in contact with her. Pat lived a life rich in love, faith, and service to others.
A woman of unwavering faith, Pat was a member of the Eastern Star and spent countless hours over the years serving on the Job’s Daughters Guardian Council. She found joy in helping others, being around people but mostly her family, volunteering with her church, and hosting in-home Bible studies, spreading the message of love and compassion.
In 1963, Pat graduated, married her high school sweetheart, whom she spent 60 years with, and embarked on a remarkable legacy. In 1964, she became a mom. Years later her faith was tested and they lost their home in a wild fire. It was then God lead this power couple to Iowa where together their 37-year career as doctors of chiropractic began. Dr. Pat spent the years touching countless lives with her healing hands and compassionate heart. She was known as a caregiver at heart, finding complete fulfillment in helping others and nurturing her community.
Upon retirement in 2012, Dr. Pat and her husband, Dr. Floyd, relocated to Virginia to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. Despite her health challenges, Dr. Pat maintained her sense of humor and infectious spirit all the way to the end, cherishing moments with her family and friends.
Patricia’s favorite verses, John 3:16 and John 15:5, exemplified her deep-rooted faith and belief in the power of love and connection. She lived her life guided by these principles, leaving a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering faith.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Floyd Englant, her daughters Mary Preston (Ray Bob Preston) and Bonnie Jones (Allen Jones), her sisters Pennie McMahon, Jeanne Stillwell (Jack Rehse), brother Richard Buck, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, & nephews.
Dr. Pat will be remembered for her unconditional love, infectious laughter, and the way she touched the lives of all who knew her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved and inspired.
A service to celebrate Pat will be held, and details will be provided once the family has had time to grieve. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and prayers during this difficult time. Rest assured, we are all doing well and finding comfort in the memories of our beloved Dr. Pat.
As we bid farewell to Patricia, we are grateful for the time we had with her, the laughter shared, the stories told, and the love expressed. While our lives may feel different without her, her legacy of stories, compassion, and her teachings of how to love in the most unconditional way humanly possible, will continue to guide us each and every day.
Until we see each other again in our Father’s house
