The Matriarch of the Wood family, Patsy A. Wood, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, May 24, 2021. Patsy was born on September 17, 1937 in Beckley, West Virginia. She later relocated to South Norfolk where she raised her three children. She spent her last eighteen years with her family in Moyock, North Carolina.

She is survived by her sister, Carolyn (Harry); her three children: Denise Layden (John), Deborah Walker (Matt), and L.J. Wood (Tamra); and her five grandchildren: Candace, Chelsey, Dane (Tiffany), Jordan (Cory) and Matthew and her most loved great grandchildren, Addyson, Savannah, and Gavin.

Patsy had a smile that would light up a room and a heart of gold. She loved her family more than life. Her wisdom will live on through her legacy. She will live on in our hearts and our memories forever.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her home health nurse, Jennifer Forbes, for her love, patience, and support in caring for Patsy. The family would also like to thank her hairdresser, Sherry Davenport, for going above and beyond.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
