Paula McBee Virginia Beach
Paula Marie McBee passed away the evening of February 8th, 2011 at Sentara Leigh Hospital after a prolonged recovery from a broken ankle and other complications. Born in San Francisco, California in 1927 to Mary and Walter Drechsler she is preceded by her husband David and daughter Susanna. Her children; David Jr., James, Nancy, Sean, and Barbara, grandchildren Meghan and Sean and a great-granddaughter Makaley survive her. Paula led a remarkable life with highlights that included crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on foot the first day it opened and serving on General Douglas MacArthurs Occupation staff in Japan following World War II. She served her country with 35 years of dedicated work in the Federal Government. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Virginia Beach SPCA or to any Volunteer Rescue Squad in Virginia Beach is appreciated. Cremation Society of Virginia is assisting the family.
