Peggy Anne Powell, born on November 11, 1943, in The Plains, Virginia, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on April 12, 2026, in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else. She found her greatest joy in time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved dogs. She possessed incredible strength, a realistic outlook on life, and an inspirational spirit that touched all who knew her.
She was also a dedicated accountant whose career was marked by precision and a genuine love for helping others. Her daughter Brenda followed in her footsteps, pursuing a career in accounting inspired by her mother’s dedication and skill.
In her younger years, Peggy enjoyed playing tennis and remained an avid reader throughout her life, finding both joy and comfort in books. In retirement, she devoted her time to volunteering, including assisting others with tax preparation through AARP, serving on the board of the Lake of the Woods Association and supporting children through her many acts of kindness.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mae Moore, her sisters, Joyce Fowler and Pearl Clatterbuck, and her husband Robert Powell. She is survived by her loving daughters, Brenda Ward and Angela Blake; her sister, Jeanne Stiltner; her adoring granddaughter, Jessica Bianchi, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Grayson, Brooks, and Elena Bianchi.
A graveside memorial will be held at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, located at 4160 Rixeyville Rd, Jeffersonton, VA 22724 on Friday, May 1st at 1:00pm.
